Why The Ice Climbers Was Not Included In Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS

I suppose many fans are wondering why the Ice Climbers are missing in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS. Having debut in the series in Super Smash Bros. Melee and making a subsequent appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl – it was natural to assume that the Popo and Nana was bound to make a glorious return in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS. However, unfortunately, this is not the case.

In the off-chance that you have been out of the loop, the Ice Climbers have been cut from the playable roster, among other notable fighters. Director, Masahiro Sakurai, in his weekly Famitsu column has revealed why the Ice Climbers did not make the cut in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS.

Sakurai revealed that the Ice Climbers was running on the Wii U version, however, due to the poor processing power of the Nintendo 3DS, the development team was unable to translate the Ice Climbers on Super Smash Bros. For 3DS.

The second reason might be saddening for fans of Popo and Nana. Sakurai revealed that the Ice Climbers was put on the low priority list because their is a high chance that they may never get a full-fledged-game in the future. Their non-appearance in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS will hit the Smash community hard – no more wobble, no more infinite chain grabs, no more Chudat combo videos – it’s a sad time, indeed.
