Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS features the largest playable character roster in the franchises history. With 49 playable characters spanning over 3o years of video game history and taken from several franchises – Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS is definitely a celebration of all things Nintendo.
With so many characters to unlock, I suppose it can be a little confusing to decipher what conditions are needed, so that specific fighters can be unlocked Thankfully for you, I have composed this neat-little-guide that will ensure that you unlock all the playable characters in no time. Without further ado, let’s begin.
The Starting Character Roster
Super Smash Bros. For Wii U/3DS starting character roster comprises of 36 characters, which funnily enough already surpasses the entire character count of Smash Brawl.
You will start with; Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, Rosalina & Luma, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Link, Zelda, Sheik, Toon Link, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Pit, Palutena, Marth, Ike, Robin, Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight, Little Mac, Fox, Pikachu, Charizard, Lucario, Greninja, Captain Falcon, Villager, Olimar & Pikmin, Wii Fit Trainer, Shulk, Pac-Man, Sonic, and Mega Man.
Unlike Brawl, unlocking all the secret fighters is a much easier affair this time around. In fact, unlike the 300’ish matches needed to reveal all the characters in Super Smash Bros Brawl – in the newest iteration only 120 matches are needed to open up the last spot. Certain characters have alternative methods of unlocking, which does make the task a little easier if you want a specific character.
To unlock Ness, you must complete 10 matches (which includes online matches)
To unlock Falco, you must complete 20 matches (which includes online matches)
To unlock Wario, you must complete 30 matches (which includes online matches)
To unlock Lucina, you must complete 40 matches or alternatively you can beat Classic mode with Marth
To unlock Dark Pit, you must complete 50 matches or alternatively you can beat Classic mode with Palutena
To unlock Dark Pit, you must complete 60 matches or alternatively you can beat Classic mode with Mario
To unlock R.O.B, you must complete 70 matches.
To unlock Ganondorf, you must complete 80 matches or alternatively you can beat Classic Mode with Link
Mr. Game & Watch
To unlock Mr. Game & Watch, you must complete 90 matches
To unlock Bowser Jr, you must complete 100 matches or alternatively you can beat Classic Mode with Bowser at intensity 7.0
Duck Hunt Dog
To unlock Duck Hunt Dog, you must complete 110 matches
To unlock Jigglypuff, you must complete 120 matches
