Nintendo is expectation huge things from its new IP – Splatoon. Nintendo has in the passed claimed that Splatoon will be the Mario Kart of the shooter genre. It turns out that they Big N meant every word.
Speaking to MCV, Nintendo of UK Marketing Manager Chandra Nair has revealed that the marketing campaign for Splatoon is on the same level of Mario Kart 8, which is arguably Wii U’s biggest and best selling game to date.
“We have a substantial campaign planned for Splatoon. To give you an idea of the scale, we’re matching Mario Kart 8 – that’s the potential we think Splatoon has,” Nair told MCV.
Nair Expressed a confidence in the potential of Splatoon and its ability to draw new players to purchase a Wii U.
“We have the utmost confidence in the potential of Splatoon. It gives retailers a fantastic art style that stands out in-store or on-screen and it also offers various up-sell opportunities with the accompanying Amiibo. It’s a really interesting game for us because it allows us to expand out to a group of people who may never have considered Wii U before.”
It is naturally pleasing to see that Splatoon is being valiantly by Nintendo. Splatoon has been performing well in various Japanese retailers pre-order charts and all evidence suggest that the Nintendo’s new IP will be at the very least a moderate success.
