President Of Nintendo Satoru Iwata Has Passed Away

With a heavy heart, Nintendo of Japan has announced that their beloved President – Satoru Iwata – has passed away. Iwata was 55.

In a short press statement, Nintendo revealed that Mr. Iwata passed away on Saturday, July 11th due to a bile duct growth.

“Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.”

Mr Iwata had been battling the disease for over a year, missing key events such as E3 as he went treatment and recovery. Many fans have noted his massive weight loss in recent Nintendo Direct.

Satoru Iwata was appointed the head of Nintendo in 2002 and will most notably remembered for bringing Nintendo to a golden age with the outstanding success of the Wii and DS.

Before that, Iwata was the president of Hal Laboratories and a genius programmer that helped deliver titles like Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pokemon Gold and Silver and other HAL titles.

Iwata will be dearly missed as the face for Nintendo Directs and the highly popular series, Iwata Ask.

On behalf of Nintendo News Fix and all Nintendo fans, we give condolences to his family and friends, and also to the extended Nintendo family. He will be missed.
