Following trend across Europe, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire has broken sales records in Australia and New Zealand.
Nintendo of Australia has announced that Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire has set a new record for the biggest week sales for a Nintendo title. The previously record was set by Pokemon X&Y, which sold 100, 000 units in its first week. Pokemon ORAS has comfortable outsold its predecessor by selling 120, 000 units during the first two days after going on sale.
Pokemon X&Y has become the highest selling Pokemon title in Australia and New Zealand selling 330, 000 units life-to-date surpassing Pokemon Diamond/Pearl which launched in 2007.
“We’re thrilled to see players in Australia and New Zealand embracing the latest Pokémon titles on Nintendo 3DS,” said Daryl Mohr from Nintendo of Australia. “Considering the install base of Nintendo DS at the time of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, these two new records are a testament to the quality of Pokémon titles available for the Nintendo 3DS family of consoles heading into the holiday season.”
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire has already shipped 7.7 million units since its launch in November. For the latest updates on Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, stay tuned at Nintendo News Fix.
