Welcome to Nintendo News Fix’s almost daily fixture – Pokemon Of The Day. With the growing popularity of our site and with the majority of our readers coming for Pokemon and Super Smash Bros. For Wii U content. I thought it might be a good idea to supply what is in high demand.
To start things off, I decided to provide some competitive movesets for Mega Salamence, which in my opinion, is the strongest Mega Evolution introduced in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
It goes without saying, Mega Salamence is a monster that can tear through opposing teams. Not only that, Mega Mence stats are so well distributed across the board that it can built to serve several roles making predictions a deadly affair for your opponent.

Dragon Dance Mega Salamence
Evs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed. Nature: Naive, Ability: Aerilate
- Dragon Dance
- Double Edge/Return
- Fire Blast
It is only natural that a knowledgeable battler would opt for a Dragon Dance set. After one Dragon Dance, Mega Salamence has more than enough power to create serious dents in the opponents team. And when played right can easily sweep an entire team. Dragon Dance is the crux of the set and a necessity to effectivel sweep teams. With a +1 boost in Attack and Speed – Mega Salamence has more than enough power to wreck teams particularly in the late game stage. As for attack moves, Double Edge is far and away Mega Mence’s most devastating move. When combined with Aerilate – Double Edge gains a 30% boost in power and in addition gets the same type attack bonus. However, unfortunately, the recoil damage from Double Edge lessens Mega Mence’s longevity. In that case, Return is a viable alternative. Earthquake hits steel types such as Metagross, Jirachi etc. While Fire Blast takes care of Skarmory and Ferrothorn. While this set provides almost perfect coverage, you must be wary that Rotom-W can wall this set.
Mix Mega Mence
Evs: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed. Nature: Naive, Ability: Aerilate
- Double Edge
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
I am the type of person who tends to opt for a balance team over hyper offensive or stall. As such, I always like to reserve a spot for a mix wallbreaker. With Mega Salamence sublime stats in Attack and Special Attack, it is the perfect Pokemon that can fulfill that role. This set is far from perfect, with its EV distribution allocated without adequate thought and precision. Still, I like the look of it. Double Edge and Draco Meteor are two powerful stabs that can deal a nice chunk of damage. While Fire Blast allows Mega Mence to deal with nasty steel type. The last slot is more preference. Roost allows Mega Salamence to last longer, while Earthquake is a more reliable move to hit Steel Pokemon and avoid Mence being walled by Heatran.
