Sableye always had the potential to be a fantastic support Pokemon, unfortunately, it was let down by its poor base stats. Thankfully, with the introduction of Mega Evolutions in the metagame, Sableye has been able to fulfill its potential.
Most noticeably Sableye has got significant buff in its defensive stats. Now both special defense and defense are at base 120 and its offensive aren’t too bad as well. To top things off, Mega Sableye gains the ever-so-useful ability, Magic Bounce.
If you are looking for a good defensive pivot for your team, then look no further, Mega Sableye is your Pokemon.

Mega Sableye @ Sableite
Nature: Bold, EVS: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Special Attack, Ability: Magic Bounce
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball/Dark Pulse
I often see this set running around in online play, and it’s not hard to see why. More often than not, you will want to build Mega Sableye around this build. EV distribution is designed to maximize Mega Sableye defensive capabilities with Calm Mind set to alleviate M-Sableye weaker Special Defensive stat while adding extra omph to its offensive capabilities. Will-O-Whisp allows Mega Sableye to cripple physical offensive threats with the added bonus of residual damage. Recover is a must, allowing Mega Sableye to recover HP at will, thus increasing its shelf life. The last spot is allocated for an offensive move. Shadow ball is my preferred option allowing it to hit the ever so common fairies and fighting types, but it will leave Mega Sableye vulnerable against Normal Types. Dark Types guarantees damage on all Pokemon, but will have trouble with the aforementioned Faity and Fighting types.
