The Wii U has experienced its best sales month in December 2014 according to the latest NPD report.
Wii U hardware sales and software sales are significantly up compared to the previous year. Hardware sales saw a 25% increase, meanwhile, software saw an impressive increase of 75%.
“Wii U sales were their best ever in the U.S. for the month of December. Additionally, total hardware and software sales in 2014 rose by over 29 percent and over 75 percent respectively compared to the previous year.”
Nintendo has confirmed that Super Smash Bros. For Wii U and Mario Kart 8 has sold 1.3 million and 1.7 (retail + digitally) in 2014. Total Sales for Amiibo are double the sales of Smash Bros., putting sales close to 2.6 million.
The Nintendo 3DS had a delightful December, experiencing its best ever month in regards to software sales. The primary drivers are Pokemon and Super Smash Bros. For 3DS with both titles well above the 2 million mark.
“Nintendo 3DS also had a strong December, including its largest month ever for first-party software sales. This was primarily fueled by Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, which has already surpassed 2 million combined physical and digital units sold in a little more than three months, and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, which have combined to sell over 2.6 million physical and digital units in their first six weeks.”
Nintendo is looking to be in good stead when the fiscal reports are finalized.
