Nintendo Top Publisher In Japan For First Half Of Fiscal Year

Nintendo has displayed impressive dominance in Japan coming in number one spot in the regions top 10 publishers for the half of the fiscal year. In terms of market share (by the number of game copies sold), Nintendo has taken 32.1% share of the delicious pie.

The difference between the number one spot is quite significant. The 2nd ranked publisher, Level-5 only managed to grab 11.9% of video game sales with Square Enix following not far behind with a 11% share. The usual candidates Bandai-Namco and Konami round-out the top 5 spots.

Nintendo’s performance comes at no surprise with a number top selling games released during the respective time frame such as Fire Emblem Fates, Splatoon, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Super Mario Maker. With the sizable difference between the nearest competitor and a number of system sellers still due for arrival it is likely that Nintendo will remain at top spot for the rest of the fiscal year.

01. Nintendo – 32,1%
02. Level 5 – 11,9%
03. Square Enix – 11%
04. Bandai Namco – 10,7%
05. Konami – 5,3%
06. Capcom – 4,9%
07. Sony Computer Entertainment – 3,1%
08. GunHo – 2,3%
09. Spike Chunsoft – 1,8%
10. Marvelous – 1,5%
