In recent times, Nintendo have been pushing a number of forward thinking initiatives to strengthen their business. From a better online market to encouraging more indie’s to develop for the consoles, Nintendo have been a proactive company.
Following trend, Nintendo and Singaporean digital media university DigiPen has teamed up together to form DigiPen Studios. The Studio will work with third party create and publish games for the Nintendo 3DS, with the possibly to include future consoles.
Later this year, Digipen Singapore will host a conference; allowing devs to pitch ideas and concepts for evaluations. Selected concepts will be developed and published for the Nintendo 3DS. The initiative will allow Nintendo to draw upon and develop the talent pool in the untapped Singapore ecosystem.
From what I can gather, this is a positive initiative with only good that can come from it. More games for Nintendo fans and inspiring developers will have an avenue to develop their trade. A win-win situation.
