Famitsu has revealed their sales numbers for the launch of the New Nintendo 3DS and Monster Hunter 4G, released on the weekend.
The New Nintendo 3DS – pardon the pun – had a monster launch, selling 233 483 units with only two days of tracking. In terms of SKU breakdown, the New Nintendo 3DS XL proved to be the more popular model selling 172,332 units. On the other hand, the normal version moved a respective 61 151 hardware units during the two days.
Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4G has obliterated the charts with an impressive 1.6 millions units sold to consumers during the 2 days. Monster Hunter 4G has placed thirds in the highest first week sales in Japan, with Pokemon X&Y and Monster Hunter 4 taking number one and two spots respectively.
With the strong sales of the New Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo and fans can be optimistic about a rebound in hardware sales for the 3DS.
