Kingdom Hearts has become an endearing franchise among gamers because its clever mesh of classic Disney worlds. From the tuneful world of Atlantica to the dry Savannah of the Pride Lands, Kingdom Hearts has been the best celebration of the Disney universe until the arrival of Disney Infinity.
Still as I fervent Disney fan and a devoted gamer, I would always put Kingdom Hearts above the toy-collecting-title. At the moment, Kingdom Hearts 3 is looking to be a long way off until its inevitable release, but at least we have two Disney Worlds confirmed to be making an appearance. Hercules and Tangled are the first two Disney worlds confirmed; with the former being my most wanted universe before any announcement.
Before more announcements are made, I thought now would be the most suitable time to share my Disney worlds wishlist for Kingdom Hearts 3.
So here are my top 5 Disney worlds wishlist for Kingdom Hearts 3.
Scrolling down the list of Disney movies there was many that stood out as suitable for Kingdom Hearts or I wasn’t too fond with the idea of said franchise making an appearance in KH3. After much deliberation, I’ve decided to include Maleficent in my list. There’s nothing particularly special about the story, but the beautiful setting of the movie is worthy of the Kingdom Hearts universe. The Moors with its untouched and pristine environments and the cursed thorns protecting its borders would be an interesting world for Kingdom Hearts 3. Not to mention the mythical creatures inhabiting the Moors would be cool to see in video game format.
I suppose not many of the new generation and even the older gen remember Pocahontas. Pocahontas is one of my earliest encounters with Disney’s feature films, partly because it was one of my first experience at the Cinemas and secondly it was a big movie during its initial release. Unfortunately, Pocahontas has not resonated well in the minds of masses, well not like the classics such as Aladdin, Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty. Exploring Pocahontas in Kingdom Hearts 3 is an excellent way to relive this classic and make it relevant to the new generation. As for how the Pocahontas universe work within Kingdom Hearts 3 will work… well I’m not to sure. But if they can make Beauty & the Beast work, then I’m sure the geniuses at Square could find a way with Pocahontas.
Frozen wouldn’t be my first choice for Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3. Everything about the movie is a tad overrated and having to listen to the damn theme song (you know the song I am talking about) constantly for a number of months has me disenchanted with the franchise. Regardless, having the frozen brand behind Kingdom Hearts 3 is a sure fire way to sell a few copies and I suppose there are countless Olaf fans that would be ecstatic with its inclusion. From a story point of view, Frozen could be an easy fit in the Kingdom Hearts universe. I’d imagine Sora and Co. would travel through the winter land to convince Elsa to undo her frozen trust. I suppose, worst come to worst, the director could have a sing-along stage like Atlantica in KH2.
Wreck-it-ralph should be a natural choice for Sqaure and Disney. A video game inspired world in Kingdom Hearts just makes so much sense in my opinion. It really does! If I had the decision making power, the setting would be at Sugar Rush with the Cy-bug at the climax of its invasion. Sora paired up with good old Ralph assists in stopping the parasitical invaders. Gameplay can be a combination of traditional action adventure and good-old arcade racing in the same style that was featured in the . I hate to sound like a broken record, but Wreck-it-ralph makes so much sense in my mind. There is one thing that I should mention. I have reservations that many Kingdom Hearts fans won’t warm up to the inclusion of Wreck-it-ralph.
1. Star Wars
Star Wars will likely be excluded from Kingdom Hearts 3. Although owned by Disney, it is my understanding that EA also has video game rights to the Star Wars franchise. I’d imagine that any sort of negotiation regarding Star Wars would be difficult. Still, I am optimistic that the force will be with Sora in Kingdom Hearts 3. Frankly, I don’t care about the story elements from the Star Wars universe, I just want to see a duel between Jedi Knights and Sora. A Key Blade warriors against the mighty Jedi, that is a battle to savor. Thinking about it makes me all giddy inside. If Square manages to pull off my fantasy, I would love them forever and ever and ever…
